HISTORY
At the beginning of 1995, the policy of the College to accommodate only the students from Maktab Sains in the Sixth Form classes was changed. Students from other schools were taken in. This has brought about healthy competition among the Sixth-formers and there is a noticeable "give and take" attitude among the seniors of the College.
The saga of striving for excellence in every aspect of a student’s life goes on as the college continues to play a vital role in the educational field of Negara Brunei Darussalam.

ACHIEVEMENTS
Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (Malay: Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan) is considered as one of the best secondary schools in Brunei Darussalam. The school is renowned throughout the region for its excellent O-level and A-level results. Former Maktab Sains students can be found in universities all over the world including Imperial College, Oxbridge and the Ivy League.To gain admission to the school, students must earn straight As in their Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (formerly known as Primary Certificate Of Education).
The school has , 'hadrah' ana proud tradition in interschool competitions including science, mathematics, computing, speech, debated 'nasyid' competitions. In 2004, the school choir team managed to win the interschool choir competition; after not being allowed to join the competition for about ten years. Though the schools sports teams have not been equally prominent in national competitions, the school's basketball team has recently become a force at this level. During the early years in 1978-1980 the hockey teams and netball teams were very competitive and went to National competitions. The school has also been known to be active in extracurricular activities including a drugs awareness team.
Many of Brunei's royal family, were taught in Maktab Sains. The Crown Princess of Brunei Darussalam, Pengiran Anak Sarah was educated there where she graduated in 2005. The Sultan's granddaughter, nephews and nieces are educated there too.
The School is located on Jalan Muara, in close proximity to two other secondary level schools- Sekolah Menengah Berakas and Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rijal

Maktab Sains consists of three types of course ;

Lower Secondary Course (SPN 1 INTERIM)

Upper Secondary Course (Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level)

Pre-University Course (Brunei-C ambridge GCE ‘A’ Level)

In Upper Secondary Course

A two year course and students sit for the ‘O’ Level examination at the end of the second year.
